Meet Marsha

If the 100-year-old house Marsha Buford calls home could talk, it would bear witness to some of the greatest wonders and challenges of 8th District life.

The Norton Street property’s mere existence reflects care, tenacity, and resilience—the stuff its original occupants, Buford’s maternal grandparents, possessed.

Marsha’s mother, a mental health nurse, made sure to cultivate in her seven children the core values her longshoreman father and homemaker mother instilled in her: faith, perseverance, and hope. Today, these still form the foundation of the 8th District candidate’s daily dedication to service.

She is no stranger to investing her resources in community empowerment efforts. For decades that’s how she’s paved avenues to transport others to better lives. Parenting principles, job success skills, and conflict resolution strategies are among the tools she shares—often as a long-term volunteer.

“You gotta change the way you think” is a central philosophy Marsha calls upon when collaborating or mediating. It’s the mindset she promotes at the church she founded, The House of Favor Full Gospel Ministries; in her chaplaincy at the Chatham County Jail; and with at-risk participants in workforce preparedness trainings.

This tireless advocate balances a hands-on, no-nonsense approach with distinctive empathy. That’s because Marsha’s lived experiences equip her to connect with and practically address a range of needs.

As your commissioner, she’ll be accessible and responsive to you. Integrity, approachability, service . . . with Marsha Buford that’s what you get.

She’s ready to REPRESENT YOU.
